Today in central North Carolina it’s cool and misty. Not exactly what I’d a great start to May, but I’ll take it. Before we dive headfirst into this month and all the outdoor projects it will inevitably bring, let’s take a quick look at April.

Started It. Finished It. Boom.

Early in the month, I painted the inside of our lively green door….green! Coincidentally, we closed out the month with another door project, this time frosting the window on our back door. I also shared our raised garden bed‘s status (I harvested arugula and spinach this week!) and some tips on composting.

Started It. Didn’t Finish It. Waahh.

We are well on our way to finishing our guest bathroom since we FINALLY got tile after about a month’s delay. One of these days we’ll have our other toilet back. I also planned and started making a console table. Pollen, rain and general lack of time has hindered progress. My sixth sense must have picked up on how slow this project would go, based on that post’s title: We’re Building A Console Table. Slowly.

We planted some grass in a giant dirt patch in the back yard. I’m not sure whether to call this finished or unfinished. Right now, we’re waiting to see what the grass does. It’s growing nicely (I’d take a picture, but uh, it’s muddy and unattractive right now, thanks rain!), but we may have to do a second round of seeding.

Time Warp

I rewound back to 2012 to cover this cookie jar spray painting project that I somehow forgot to post about.

Life Stuff

I went to San Antonio and a home show that ended up not being interesting, unless you’re in the market to hire out all your project and you like tablescapes. I do not like tablescapes. But San Antonio rocked my socks, even if I was in a class for most of the day.

Thank You, Friends!

This month I jumped on the PassionFruit ads train. I was pleased to learn the company is based in Wake Forest, not far from where we are in NC!

A shout out to the bloggers who agreed to do some ad swapping.

  • Fall for Design: Autumn makes beautiful custom stationery and shares many secrets to running an online business.
  • Little Teas: Sherry and her husband Paul write about life, crafting, cooking and raising their son Noah.
  • Limited Space Organizing: Sarah is an organizing pro. She shares her own projects as well as what others have done.
  • Bedsidesign: Christie has an awesome eye for design. She writes about fun things and interesting goodies for the home. Plus, she sweetly mentioned Lively Green Door in this post, which I need to reciprocate soon!

If you’re a blogger and want to ad swap, hop over here.

What’s Up, May?

We plan our project 90% of the time (the 10% being times I randomly decide to paint the backside of a door green), so we have a decent idea of what we’re going to do this month. That includes:

  • Finishing the guest bathroom (hahahaha, suuuuure)
  • Completing the console (seriously, spare lumber is crowding up a guest room)
  • Giving the great outdoors a serious pick-me-up after a long winter
  • Scheming ideas for decorating our stagnant bedroom
