Since painting our kitchen last month, I’ve been thinking about the different things I want to do to the space. We definitely don’t have the budget to completely gut it and start from scratch, but I have a few ideas for sprucing up the space on a budget (and using the money saved for new appliances!).
That’s a fairly comprehensive view of the kitchen. Here’s the side with the dinky faucet and sink, after we painted the walls gray.
I’ve been pinning some ideas lately (backsplash tiles, lighting, etc). Here’s a labeled picture of different projects I want to pursue.
- New wall color
- New light fixtures
- Install a new sink and faucet
- Paint the existing cabinets and add hardware
- Install a better storage system under the cabinets (pull out drawers, for example)
- Hang curtains
- Do something with the counters
- Install a backsplash
- Update the appliances: dishwasher, stove (we want to convert it to gas), fridge and range hood
- Install new flooring
- Infuse some general decor
So that’s a lot. And it’ll take a while. But that’s what we’re going to be working on, starting with painting the kitchen cabinets. I’ve been doing a lot of research on it lately, and I think I’m prepared for the challenge.
I can’t wait to bring our 1990s kitchen into a new decade. Heck, even if its just the 2000s, I’ll be happy!
