I’ve been saying for a while that I need to do a full listy list of all the things we’re going to do in our spare guest bedroom. Well, here it is!

A few of these things are done. We painted the room, we started painting the furniture and we have a new light fixture. The full listy list:

  • Paint the walls to brighten the room Done! Benjamin Moore Lacey Pearl
  • Install crown molding
  • Swap out fan for new semiflush light Done! New light from Lamps Plus Open Box
  • Paint dresser and bed to match Halfway there. We’re going with green – Versailles by Annie Sloan
  • Organize the disaster in the closet
  • Install shelves in closet nook for better storage
  • Paint closet (preferably with a semigloss to keep it clean)
  • Find new curtains (IKEA curtains pictured above)
  • New area rug (Joss and Main rug pictured)
  • Paint and hang new mirror (Not the mirror we have, but similar.)
  • Hang botanical prints (I thrifted four gorgeous botanical prints and they need a home!)
  • Grab a couple of new throw pillows (Target pillowed pictured. A pop of color would be nice.)
  • Get a plain fitted sheet to throw over box springs
  • Work out better TV/bookshelf system

That takes care of everything pictured above except for the blue paint swatch, Old Violet by Annie Sloan. It would make a nice accent with the green and creamy colors in the room.

Also, I know what you’re thinking. A twin bed for a guest? What? Do we hate our guests? Haha. Truthfully, we don’t have many guests. My brother occasionally visits from college (so he can drink all our beer). Otherwise, most of our family lives close enough that they wouldn’t need to stay overnight. With out-of-state family, they’re much more likely to stay at my mom or dad’s (much larger) house. But with baby on the way, we really want to get this space knocked out.

Oh, and that twin bed is super comfortable. I’ve actually been sleeping on it the past few nights because it feels so good on my back!

We did some serious work on organizing the closet, so stay tuned for that.

Last, for fun: the room in its current state.

The room when we first moved in and the house was a monster mess.

So, um, things are better.
