Let’s just spoil the build up and go straight to the after photo, shall we? First, a warning: The photos are warm and glowy. The sun was setting, and when I color balanced, it white washed the photos. I was too impatient (and losing light!) to toy with settings. So we have slightly warmer than real-life photos. Ahem. Onward!

A lot happened this weekend (thank you, awesome weather!). I was able to drag the bed outside and paint it to match the dresser.

With that out of the room, I finished the last couple coats of paint on the crown moulding. Part of me wishes I had painted it before hanging it, but it wouldn’t have eliminated patching and painting nail holes. *shrug*

And because I was feeling ultra ambitious, I even painted the ceiling! Guys, it’s AMAZING what a painted ceiling will do. I’ll let Doge explain.

It’s such a pain in the butt, but wow. Luckily, being a small room, the ceiling has a small footprint, so it only took two coats at 30 minutes each. I used Ceiling White by Olympic in a flat finish. I figured I’d never forget the name of that paint formula, ha.

The photo on the left is more accurate, so take the colors in the right photo with a grain teaspoon of salt. I promise I’ll color balance for the real after photos!

With painting in the room wrapped up, we moved the bed back in and hung new curtains.

These are Nate Berkus for Target. They’re 84″, but they work. I’d prefer them slightly more puddled on the floor, but given that they were half priced clearance, I’ll deal with it. $20 for two panels is about what I’d pay for the same fabric at Jo-Ann, and I didn’t have to sew anything, so…yeah. Putting that in the “win” column.

I still have a wall to contend with. Hmmm. HMMMM. Ideas? I have some awesome botanical prints, but I’m leaning towards putting those in our bedroom.
