Before I get to the belly pictures, let’s talk about the SNOW here! Yesterday was incredible. It started snowing around 12:30, and by 3:30, we had four inches on our patio furniture. An hour later, it switched to dirty, terrible sleet. And it just kept coming! We left work when it started snowing and got home a bit after 1, and the roads were covered. We are both extremely fortunate that we have flexible jobs and understanding bosses. We got home safe and sound. But honestly, it was a bit scary, especially in our little Honda Fit.

Half an hour into the snow:

We walked around a bit to check out the roads. We helped push a small BMW out of a ditch. Later, we heard a big bang and walked out to see a small sedan with a perpendicular front wheel and a minivan in a ditch. We helped them get sorted as much as we could. As of right now, both of their vehicles are abandoned with traffic cones surrounding them.

No one was prepared for accumulation like this. (We sure weren’t! We wouldn’t have driven our tiny car had we known it was going to immediately stick on roads! That rarely happens in NC!) The forecast was 1-3 inches in our area, followed by 0.25 inches of sleet/ice. That sure didn’t happen! Here’s the view this morning. A littttle icy.

Also, relocated Northerners: you can stop being smug now. We get it. *rolls eyes so hard they got stuck*

We did get to play a little though! Lucy LOVES the snow. She runs around like a crazy dog and wears herself out, then relaxes by taking a few bites of the snow. We filled a bowl for her and she ate it all! She’s not having as much fun this morning in the ice though.

On to the photos!

I’m at week 24. I’m honestly surprised by the growth. After experiencing several weeks of outward expansion, it seems like the past couple of weeks were upward growth. My shape is definitely influenced by Baby B’s position.

Stats:

  • Weight Gain: 16 pounds total! (My December to January weight gain was 2 pounds, January to February was six pounds!)
  • Movement: And here’s why I gained six pounds. Baby Boy GREW this month. At my early January appointment, I had just started feeling the twitches. Now, we can feel kicks and punches on the outside! If conditions are just right, I canĀ see the movement. One evening, I laid there and tracked him as he turned a full somersault — kicks went from low in my stomach to above my belly button in ten minutes. It’s such a weird feeling. Last night he kicked so hard, it made me go, “Oof!”
  • Cravings: Shockingly, none. You always hear how women are like, “I MUST HAVE PICKLES/ICE CREAM/RICE WITH BANANAS,” (I made that last one up), but I haven’t felt that. There are a few foods that are especially good tasting to me that I didn’t care for before. Milk, for example. We never buy milk because we rarely eat cereal, but I’m going through a gallon of it a week now. Not craving it, but I suddenly actually like the taste of it.
  • General Feelings: Well, I’m good. I still have to pee in the middle of the night. I had one emotional morning (MY CLOTHES DON’T FIT AND IT’S THE END OF THE WORLD) but a quick trip to Target fixed that. :)

Woo! Oh, and we’re kinda sorta working on the nursery? Not really though. I just painted it (see above). More to come on that, as soon as we wrap up the guest room.
